Joint statement expressing concern with draft terms of reference for National Inquiry into missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls

In a statement released July 20, KAIROS joins other organizations in expressing concern that the draft Terms of Reference (TOR) for the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls in Canada fall short and “risks a weak National Inquiry that lacks clear authority to delve into some of the most crucial factors in this human rights crisis.” A National Inquiry is urgently needed to address the root causes of violence against Indigenous women and girls and identify concrete and practical solutions. The statement contains analysis and recommendations on the TOR.  Please sign the PLEDGE to stand with Indigenous women and families to end the violence.
