Host a KAIROS Workshop

KAIROS staff and others are available as guest speakers and workshop facilitators. You can help us equip and encourage our members and all Canadians towards faithful action for justice by inviting us to your next major gathering. See below for some current workshop examples.

Please make your requests with as much notice as possible. We will prioritize these invitations:

1)      National events of our members

2)      Regional ecumenical events

3)      Train-the-trainer workshops

4)      Series of events in one geographical area (tour)

5)      Occasions where we will be introduced to new constituencies

Our staff have expertise in a variety of social justice fields. Here are just a few current examples of workshops we offer, all of which can be adapted to suit your situation.

Blanket Exercise: developed with Indigenous elders, this exercise is an interactive way of learning the history most Canadians are never taught.  The Blanket Exercise, with its accompanying talking circle, can be a stand-alone workshop or provide a key teaching in a longer workshop on Indigenous rights.

Reconciliation in the Watershed: take some time in your church or community to explore the call to Reconciliation in the Watershed. This workshop includes biblical and personal reflection, reflection on the issues facing your watershed, and the opportunity to connect those issues with others across Canada and around the world.

Women of Courage:

Resource Extraction: Poor countries and Indigenous territories rich in natural resources are too often the victim of destructive, irresponsible resource extraction. Hear from staff that have recently visited the Congo, the Philippines or the Canadian tar sands and learn what free, prior and informed consent (FPIC) means for communities affected by the global thirst for resources.
