What do migrant workers say?


Recent news about problems with the Government of Canada’s Temporary Foreign Workers Program (TFWP) has largely ignored the voices of those most affected – migrant workers and their families. KAIROS is concerned that the federal government’s response to flaws with the TFWP is making things worse for migrant workers who are being blamed for taking jobs away from Canadian workers. Hearing from migrant workers would help to dispel some of the myths and stereotypes dividing local and foreign workers.

International Migrants DayThis recent Canadian Council for Refugees (CCR) statement provides valuable context and analysis, and highlights some of the fundamental issues, including the need for changes to the immigration policy; changes that will further strengthen Canada as a diverse, multicultural and welcoming country that provides equal opportunity for everyone.
