Gendered Impacts: New Economy

In A New Economy, the fifth and final video in the Gendered Impacts series, Indigenous women comment on the impacts of the current extractivist model of development, and propose a transition to a more sustainable and just economy.

“We have a different vision of what the economy is for Mayan, Garifuna and Xinka communities in Guatemala, “ explains Naty Atz, from CEIBA.

Since March 8, International Women’s Day, KAIROS has released 5 videos highlighting the voices of Indigenous women on issues of land and identity, violence, and the social and economic impacts of mining. A New Economy is a strong and hopeful conclusion to this Gendered Impacts series.
