TAKE ACTION! Urge senators to pass Bill C-15

We support Bill C-15 An Act respecting the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples TAKE ACTION!

The Coalition for the Human Rights of Indigenous Peoples (the Coalition), of which KAIROS is a member, calls on all senators to ensure that Bill C-15, An Act respecting the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (the Declaration), is adopted into law.

The bill, which fulfills an election promise to introduce legislation to implement the Declaration, passed third reading in the House of Commons on May 25. On June 7, the Senate completed a clause by clause reading of the bill, after a pre-study by the Senate Standing Committee on Aboriginal Peoples.

The bill now needs to be brought to a final vote in the Senate so that it can receive Royal Assent.

The Coalition joins the Assembly of First Nations, the Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, and the Métis National Council, among many others, in calling for the bill to be brought to a vote without further amendment to avoid delays that could threaten its passage into law.

Please join us and write to all senators expressing your support for Bill C-15 and swift passage into law. Here is a one-click email tool from the Centre for Public Dialogue to assist you:
