Ensure Bill C-15’s passage into law

KAIROS is encouraged to see the House of Commons once again adopt UNDRIP legislation. Bill C-15, An Act respecting the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, passed third reading in the House of Commons on May 25. Three years ago, Bill C-262, Romeo Saganash’s private Member’s UNDRIP bill – on which Bill C-15 is based – was passed by the House of Commons. However, several senators blocked it from a final vote in the Senate.

In May, the Faith in the Declaration Coalition, of which KAIROS is a member, submitted its expression of support for Bill C-15 to the Pre-Study of the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Peoples of The Senate of Canada On Bill C-15.

Please send an email to Senator Dan Christmas, Chair of the Senate Standing Committee on Aboriginal Peoples, to show your support for Bill C-15.

TAKE ACTION by asking Senator Christmas to support BILL C-15

Let’s ensure that UNDRIP legislation finally becomes a reality in Canada.
