Help build political support for corporate accountability bills

For too long people who have been harmed by Canadian mining operations overseas have had little to no recourse due to lax corporate accountability and impunity – in the countries where the harms are committed, and in Canada too. Rather than defend human and ecological rights, Canada behaves more like a corporate cheerleader.
Mining abuses are undermining and destroying lives and communities, and are giving Canada a bad name.
Two private members bills aim to change that. Tabled in late March, Bill C-262 would enact mandatory human rights and environmental due diligence legislation, and Bill C-263 would empower the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise (CORE).
Help build political support for these two bills!
The Canadian Network on Corporate Accountability (CNCA), of which KAIROS is a member, is asking you and other Canadians to contact your Member of Parliament to support an Ombudsperson “with teeth” and mandatory human rights due diligence legislation.
You are encouraged to write, call and/or tweet your MP, and sign a petition.
Thank you for taking action! Please spread the word!
