Easter Hope for South Sudan

Hope

Join KAIROS in praying for peace and justice in South Sudan during this blessed season of Easter. We are honoured to be working with the South Sudan Council of Churches and its national women’s program to promote women’s participation and leadership in peace building and reconciliation. Currently, our efforts are focused in Malakal, one of the country’s hardest hit communities, where women and girls have suffered brutal atrocities in the ongoing conflict.

We pray for the people of South Sudan and invite you to read the following Easter message from our ecumenical partner. It opens with the sad reminder: “Truly, our nation has not yet experienced the joy of Resurrection; we are still in Lent, experiencing suffering and death.” Their Message of Hope urges the country’s political leaders to deal with the current economic crisis in South Sudan and move forward with implementing the peace agreement, and reaffirms the churches’ commitment to an ambitious program of action for advocacy, dialogue and reconciliation. “May Easter Hope turn into Easter Joy for all of us in the Republic of South Sudan.”
