In solidarity with our partners in the Philippines, the National Council of Churches in the Philippines (NCCP) and Ecumenical Voice for Human Rights and Peace in the Philippines ( EcuVoice), KAIROS, the United Church of Canada, and the Anglican Church of Canada have sent an ecumenical letter to Minister Champagne calling on the Canadian government to use its voice at the United Nations and with the government of the Philippines to raise concerns about ongoing human rights violations and impunity in the Philippines. Specifically, the letter asks for Canada’s support in the implementation of the recent UN Human Rights Council Resolution on promotion and protection of human sights in the Philippines, as well as for an independent international investigation into human rights in the Philippines.
