As violence and repression escalate in Palestine and Israel, KAIROS continues to call for lasting and just peace, respect for human rights and an end to the occupation.   The Rev. Andreas Thiel who is a member of the KAIROS Steering Committee and who participated in the KAIROS delegation to Palestine and Israel in 2019, has written the following prayer calling for peace and in solidarity with partners in Palestine and Israel.

Author of life and giver of peace, we bring to you our wounded, suffering world along with the needs of your human family, especially in the land where Jesus walked.

Already acquainted with grief, your people once again experience the horror of violence.

Grant those who know your Holy Land as home the knowledge of your mercy and deliver them from all that contradicts your vision for peace and justice.

Enable all those who dedicate themselves to Assalamu Alaikum… to Shalom Aleichem… to The Peace of Christ… to proclaim your message of hope with renewed courage.

Equip leaders everywhere to uphold the rights of the oppressed and to oppose all systems and methods of cruelty.

And help us to make room in our hearts so that your life-giving love may be a reality for all.

Heal us, eternal One, for it is in your healing name that we pray.

The Rev. Andreas Thiel, Rector of St Matthew’s Anglican Church, Windsor, Ontario
