2022 has been a year of amazing grace and tenacious courage. As the world opened up, with both anticipation and trepidation, we invited the return of some former normalcy and also continued to fervently adjust and learn the newness of living in the liminality of COVID.

In the midst of it all, I am grateful for everyone who contributed to the work of KAIROS. This past year, we were inspired by migrant workers who shared their heartfelt stories of pain and perseverance in a fight for employment justice, fair treatment and safety where they work and live, and permanent residency in Canada. We had represented delegations at both the World Council of Churches Assembly in Karlsruhe, Germany and the COP-27, partnered with For the Love of Creation (FLC), in Sharm al-Sheikh, Egypt delivering powerful workshops on international stages. And, the KAIROS Blanket Exercise celebrated 25 years of teaching the shared history of Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in Canada walking through pre-contact, treaty-making, colonization and resistance.

Martin Luther King Jr. said, “The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice.” KAIROS continues to have impact because of the unwavering support of our staff, partners, donors, and communities – who despite the unprecedented times we are in, walk alongside us in solidarity to fight the enduring, good fight for justice.  May we all be steadfast and purposed in our collective responsive act to “do justice, and to love kindness and to walk humbly with God” (Micah 6:8).

In 2023, we will endeavour to LOVE even more deeply. It is this love for the Creator and a love for all creation that undergirds the ecumenical, justice work of KAIROS. So, thank you! I look forward to greater depth and breadth in 2023. We are stronger with you and because of you!

May your heart be at rest and comforted with peace this Christmas. I wish you all a restful, healthy, and wonderful holiday and an extraordinary new year from our family at KAIROS to yours.

Abundant blessings,

Aisha
