(Toronto, ON) – A reflection on the impacts of climate change and actions to preserve Creation for the next generation will be delivered by Beth Lorimer, KAIROS Canada’s Ecological Justice Program Coordinator during the World Day of Prayer 2018 at St. Andrew’s United Church on March 2.

The World Day of Prayer unites Christians of many traditions from more than 170 countries to observe a common day of prayer each year. This year’s service was written by women of Suriname, a country located on the northeastern coast of South America. Its theme, All God’s Creation is Very Good!, calls on everyone to learn, act, and pray for environmental issues in solidarity with the women of Suriname. About 90 percent of the population lives in low-lying coastal areas, which are particularly vulnerable to the impacts of sea level rise from climate change.

WHAT: World Day of Prayer 2018 – All God’s Creation is Very Good!

The Women’s Inter-Church Council of Canada (WICC) will host a World Day of Prayer Service at St Andrew’s United Church. WICC is an ecumenical prayer movement that empowers Christians to pursue justice, peace and reconciliation by standing together in prayer and action. In Canada, the World Day of Prayer is coordinated by WICC.

WHEN: Friday, March 2; service begins at 11 a.m.

WHERE: St. Andrew’s United Church (117 Bloor Street W.), Toronto.

WHO: Beth Lorimer, KAIROS’ Ecological Justice Program Coordinator, will deliver a reflection that draws attention to the impacts of climate change worldwide and in Canada, and invites us to consider actions to nurture and preserve Creation for the next generation.
