CSW65 blog series

A delegation of 20, comprised of KAIROS Women of Courage partners from Colombia, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Israel/Palestine, the Philippines and South Sudan and KAIROS partnership staff, is currently participating in the online UN Commission on Status of Women (UNCSW65).  The annual UN forum takes place this year from March 15-26, 2021 and includes the high-level official meetings, CSW Side Events co-hosted by UN member states and the NGO CSW Forum, a parallel civil society forum.  ACT Alliance has generously provided our delegation with accreditation and we have been welcomed into the ACT Alliance CSW65 delegation of 60 partners.

This year the UNCSW focuses on women’s full and effective participation and decision-making in public life, as well as the elimination of violence, for achieving gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.

There are literally 1000s of events hosted by governments and civil society, including a number of official side and parallel events that are co-convened by ACT Alliance.  We are hoping that partners will find opportunities to network, build solidarity and strengthen collective advocacy as well as to raise human rights and gender justice issues that they are facing in their own contexts.

This is also an opportunity to make visible and amplify the voices and experiences of partners in an international forum with governments and civil society. Partners and KAIROS staff will be writing blogs on their experiences, analysis and reflections of the UNCSW65.  We hope to be posting these blogs throughout the duration of the UNCSW65 and beyond.
