From Principles to practice: the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples

(Ottawa, ON) – Church leaders will engage in an interactive public dialogue on what adopting and complying with the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples means in practice, on March 30 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Ottawa.

This event, called From Principles to Practice: Churches Implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, follows a morning press conference on Parliament Hill where churches, faith communities and religious organizations will jointly commit to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada’s (TRC) Call to Action 48.

Call to Action 48 calls on churches and faith groups to “adopt and comply with the principles, norms and standards” of the UN Declaration as a framework for reconciliation.
