This Christmas, we invite you to be part of the change we all long for – a world of hope, justice, and dignity.
Hope, again, is not naive optimism or despairing pessimism: it is an active, nonviolent and shared struggle for justice and peace.
-Zoughbi Zoughbi, Director at KAIROS partner organization Wi’am: The Palestinian Conflict Transformation Center.
At KAIROS, we are Indigenous Peoples, settlers, and newcomers in Canada, united with people of faith and conscience worldwide to advance ecological justice and human rights. Grounded in advocacy, education, and solidarity, we challenge systems of discrimination that marginalize individuals and communities while striving to decolonize and foster equity and inclusion.
Support our work! Be part of the KAIROS movement!
Indigenous rights and reconciliation: The KAIROS Blanket Exercise fosters understanding, inspires change, and builds pathways to righting relations. Your support of the KBE ensures that these stories are told and transformative connections are made. Together, we can walk the path of reconciliation.
“I knew that having this shared learning experience would help to set a thoughtful and empathetic tone for the start of a new school year, as many of us have not learned the history of Canada through the lens of Indigenous Peoples. The sharing circle was incredibly powerful too as it gave us connections to each other as we reflected on the experience.” –KAIROS Blanket Exercise participant
Ecological justice: We advocate for climate justice, centering the voices of those most impacted by climate change in protecting our planet for future generations. We create space for dialogue and faithful action that envisions a future where humanity lives within natural limits, in relation to all of creation.
“Love the focus on feelings! We have BIG feelings about climate change, but no venue to share. Storytelling is so important, but many of us don’t know how or need more practice. I imagined my son’s vibrant future, and I feel so good and hopeful.” – Participant from the Strengthening Voices for a Just Transition Community Dialogue in Edmonton.
Global Partnerships and Gender Justice: We stand in solidarity with women peacebuilders and human rights and environmental defenders around the world, amplifying their efforts for just peace, equity and climate justice.
“What we need this Christmas—as ever—is the hope born in partnership and friendship, the hope forged through struggle and perseverance, the hope revealed in the Gospel of a powerless child whose only power, whose only weapon, whose only promise is Love. May such partnership be ours, yours and ours, as we welcome his kingdom in action, in courage and in our life together.” – Zoughbi Zoughbi
Zoughbi calls us to actionable hope. One way we can take action is to share the prayers, messages and resources like this one on the Just Peace in the Middle Ecumenical Hub.
Migrant justice: We work to secure fair treatment and permanent residency for all migrant workers, ensuring dignity and rights for those who sustain our communities. .
“At KAIROS we will continue to advocate for dignity and respect for all newcomers to Canada, including temporary foreign workers whose rights are undermined by Canada’s flawed Temporary Foreign Workers Program.” – Leah-Seble Shifferaw, Migrant Justice Team Lead
