KAIROS Canada collaborated with the Canadian Council of Churches (CCC) and the Citizens for Public Justice (CPJ) for Earth Day 2019. Christians leaders from across Canada have come together to issue an urgent call to climate action. The overlap of Holy Week/Easter Monday with Earth day is significant and has inspired this initiative. The video highlights the need for urgent action by Canadians – and the Canadian government – on climate change. Their collective message is clear: the global climate crisis has reached a critical stage and requires an urgent moral and spiritual response.

Ecological grief, or feelings of hopelessness and anxiety about the planet’s health, is a mental health issue related to ecological loss and a changing natural environment. One way to address ecological grief is by highlighting the behavioural changes that individuals can make in their daily lives to combat climate change. In honour of Earth day 2019, KAIROS has created an infographic that shows the most impactful lifestyle changes individuals can make to reduce their carbon footprint. This guide to reducing your carbon footprint attempts to make it easier to begin these difficult conversations.
