A North-South Conversation: Voices of Indigenous Peoples
Sunday, November 13,
from 3 to 6 p.m. at Beit Zatoun, 612 Markham St.

Organized by the Ontario Mapuche Support Group and supported by KAIROS this event invites people from Indigenous communities in Canada and Latin America to discuss the plight of indigenous communities fighting multinational extractive companies, the harsh conditions surrounding members of the Mapuche people who are active in social protest to defend the environment and their way of living.

The event is intended to create relationships of mutual support by sharing knowledge with and amongst Indigenous Peoples regarding culture, traditions, colonial history and the shared struggles to defend the environment and Indigneous way of living. This event also seeks to disseminate the difficulties the Mapuche face as they work to reclaim their land. We will also discuss and share effective strategies to address these issues and how to build relationships of mutual support and solidarity.

The Ontario Mapuche Support Group fosters access for the Mapuche people to fundamental principles of justice and equality under the law.
