Please join Canadian Jesuits International, the Mary Ward Centre, the Jesuit Forum for Social Faith and Justice and Kairos: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives on Monday, August 15th, 2016, 7:00pm – 9:00pm for a discussion with Padre Melo, Director of Radio Progreso and ERIC (Equipo de Reflexión, Investigación y Comunicación).

Padre Melo is the founder of the Human Rights Department at ERIC, a social analysis and action center. Radio Progreso | Página Oficial, a Jesuit-sponsored communications apostolate, reaches over 1.5 million Hondurans and is an arena for marginalized communities to speak out against injustice.

Padre Melo was awarded the 2015 Rafto Prize for Human Rights, recognizing his role as a “fearless spokesperson who works tirelessly to investigate and communicate the reasons for the violence and abuse committed against vulnerable groups in society”.

He will speak about his experience as a human rights advocate and journalist who accompanies environmental and social activists in the struggle to promote awareness and social justice.
