Panelists Elizabeth López Canelas (activist and researcher forTerra Justa), Dr. Sherry Pictou (Assistant Professor in the Women’s Studies Department at Mount Saint Vincent with a focus on Indigenous Feminism) and Bertha Zúniga Cáceres (Coordinator for the Council of Popular and Indigenous Organizations of Honduras), discuss not only how women are differently and disproportionately affected by resource extraction but also how women can offer perspectives on sustainability and community well-being that are often not heard or understood when evaluating a project’s risk and benefits or tracking the long term social and ecological impacts.
