EventsSimcoe County & Bradford Ecumenical Meeting in Solidarity with Migrant Workers

Monday, March 7, 2022 EST @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

simcoe and brantford ecumenical gathering
Please join us at an online Ecumenical Meeting to Support Migrant Workers. Several churches and church networks are already supporting farm and other migrant workers. This is a call to churches to learn more about the workers and some of the incredible initiatives that are in the works. Find out how to be in solidarity with the migrant workers in your community by supporting existing networks, starting your own initiative, or joining in national advocacy.
Sandy Falcon and other collaborators from Unknown Neighbours will be on hand to share with us the work that they are doing in and beyond the Empowering Temporary Foreign Worker Program. Unknown Neighbours began a year ago and continues to grow and expand.
There will be time to share what you are doing and to ask questions of other churches and the KAIROS Migrant Justice Program Manager, Connie Sorio.
We invite you to be part of a network of solidarity. Migrant workers – on the farms and elsewhere – are feeling the stress of going into the third growing season of the pandemic. Come hear their stories and the stories of those who work most closely in solidarity, supporting in practical, short term ways and in the long-term advocacy work. Migrant workers – without family support, in a culture not their own, often facing language barriers – are particularly vulnerable. Come be part of the network!
