Follow-up Letter to the Prime Minister
KAIROS sent a follow up letter to Prime Minister Trudeau expressing cautious optimism at the recent news of a four-day pause in the Hamas-Israel war and release of some civilian hostages and reiterating the call for an immediate ceasefire and respect for international human rights and humanitarian law, including Canada’s support for UN resolutions supporting Palestinian rights – now more than ever. The letter repeats the urgent message in the Ecumenical Statement from October 18.
Canada must work with renewed effort toward peace with justice that upholds the rights of both Palestinians and Israelis to life and to freedom from violence and discrimination, and an end to the occupation.
