Your local press can help our Education for Reconciliation campaign gain momentum. Letters to the editor, op-eds and editorials will help build political will for TRC Call to Action #62.i.  We offer tips on writing letters to the editor and op-eds.  Download this documentWatch our training webinars .

To help the opinion editor weigh in on Education for Reconciliation, please contact them to set up a meeting. Some papers do not have Editorial Boards or don’t conduct information gathering meetings. If that’s the case, simply send them the provincial media packet. A sample message is below.

To set up a meeting with the editorial board of your local newspaper, we encourage you to invite local Indigenous rights experts to join you. Propose a meeting that speaks broadly of the challenges of meeting all 94 Calls to Action, and then focus on Call 62.i.
