Is your province or territory making progress in fully implementing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Call to Action 62.i? Stay tuned Oct. 9 when KAIROS – at the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation - releases an updated Education for Reconciliation Report Card, which grades governments on how well they are implementing this call to make curriculum on Indigenous history and contributions mandatory from grades K-12. In July, Jane Thirikwa, KAIROS’ Global Partnerships Coordinator, travelled to the West Bank to visit with Wi’am: Palestinian Conflict Transformation Center, one of five KAIROS partner organizations in the Women of Courage: Women, Peace, and Security program. In her account, she reflects on the women’s resolute spirit, resilience and hope.

Gabriela Jimenez, Latin America Partnerships Coordinator, visited the headquarters of the Organización Femenina Popular (OFP) in Colombia in July. The OFP is one of KAIROS’ five partners in the Women of Courage: Women, Peace, and Security program. Read more.

Nearly 800 students from Lutheran and Anglican churches across Canada gathered at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay in August to learn the impact of colonization on Indigenous peoples in Canada, through the KAIROS Blanket Exercise. 

Sue Eiholzer, of Jamesville, N.Y., read the script. Her voice cracked, and her eyes welled up in tears as she worked to stay composed before the room of participants standing on blankets.

All are welcome to join us for an inter-generational gathering May 2 - 5, 2019 at Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick to learn about the work of KAIROS while developing concrete advocacy skills. The theme of this gathering is "water".
