| Free

On January 26th at 7:00 pm the Treaty Land Sharing Network will be hosting another book club. We look forward to discussing Maria Campbell’s memoir Halfbreed.  This event is free and is open to all members and supporters of the Treaty Land Sharing Network.  Please register at link provided.

Maria Campbell is a writer, playwright, filmmaker, scholar, teacher, community organizer, activist and esteemed Elder and knowledge carrier. She lives at “The Crossing,” a Métis community space she has built on the South Saskatchewan River on land where Gabriel Dumont and his wife, Madeleine, once operated Gabriel’s Crossing.

Originally published in 1973, Campbell’s memoir was recently republished with a new afterword. The new edition also restores missing pages that were left out by the publisher of the original edition. Halfbreed is a foundational piece of Indigenous literature that recounts Maria’s childhood and adolescence with important lessons about kinship and land.
