Maya Achi and Mi’kmaq Perspectives

Join us for a panel discussion with guests from the New Hope Foundation in Guatemala! The school offers education opportunities to Maya Achi youth, many of whose parents or grandparents were killed during the genocide in Guatemala. Come hear about their amazing work and how you can get more involved!

BIOS
Terena Francis-Coordinator Aboriginal Student Affairs at St.FXU- is from Paqtnkek Mi’kmaw Nation and has worked with supporting Mi’kmaw learners for 15+ years.

Lilian Bolvito is Maya Achi and a former student of the New Hope Foundation Bilingual Education Centre. She is a participant in the KAIROS Blanket Exercise Exchange.

Andres Colocho Chachal is Maya Achi, an artist and a current student at the New Hope Foundation Bilingual Education Centre

Sandra Lopez is Maya Achi and Director of the New Hope Foundation.

This event is part of a speaking tour co-hosted by KAIROS and Breaking the Silence. The speaking tour is an extension of the KAIROS Blanket Exercise Youth Exchange and take place in lead up to BTS’ Annual Gathering in Tatamagouche.
