EventsBlue Scarf Earth Day Celebration: Voices for the Earth

Everyone is invited to join this event online, scheduled in Eastern Daylight Time for Zoom Conferencing.

Come learn about the Blue Scarf movement around the world, hear from many Voices speaking out to protect the land, water, air and life.Often we have walked together through the streets of Toronto, this year we hope people will join us from across the country to listen, to share and to re-commit ourselves to the earth and her inhabitants.

Sister Mary-Ellen Francoeur of Pax Christi Toronto and Susanne Maziarz will bring music and movement between speakers.

Speakers include:
Erin O’Connor from Camp Micah: Leadership for Peace and Justice

Natalie Maxson with Christian Peacemaker Teams, who will speak about her solidarity experience with the Wet’suwet’en pipeline action in British Columbia

Father Bob Holmes, who will speak about the meaning of the blue peace scarf

Grandmother Dorene Bernard will speak on behalf of KAIROS about the recent court victory against Alton Gas

Pax Christi members Angela Orellana Schwalm and Jane Sagar, who will present on behalf of Pax Christi, with a focus on Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato Si; On Care for our Common Home

Melissa Weale, volunteer with Canadian Voice of Women for Peace & World BEYOND War Ontario, and founder of SheCycle

Beth Lorimer, KAIROS, will speak regarding For the Love of Creation
