Events3% Virtual Assembly

Wednesday, September 18, 2019 EDT

| Free

Ahead of the September 27 climate strike, 3% Project is organizing a free school-wide Virtual Assembly on Wednesday, September 18, 2019. The Virtual Assembly will provide youth-friendly, holistic education on climate solutions in the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Millions of students across Canada are joining the climate strike on September 27, aiming to make it their biggest mobilization yet. That’s why we are inviting schools to join our free school-wide 3% Virtual Assembly on September 18, before the climate strike. It’s best to turn it into a valuable learning opportunity for the students, so they better understand what they’re protesting for and develop skills to implement real climate solutions right here, at home.

In the Assembly, we begin with the SDGs as a framework for the future we want. Steve Lee, Executive Director of 3% Project, presents two systemic challenges to achieving that kind of future. The first one is the rise of exponential technologies, or the “Fourth Industrial Revolution”, and the second set of challenges is climate change. We explore both challenges.

3% Virtual Assembly is followed by an ongoing mentorship program led by climate educators who teach employable skills to students.
