The UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples states:
“Treaties…and the relationship they represent, are the basis for a strengthened partnership between Indigenous peoples and States.”
Keynote speaker: Dave Mowat
Historian and Community Consultation Specialist for the Mississauga of Scugog Island First Nation (Alderville). He is the recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his work in politics, music and history. Dave will share his personal stories and his extensive experience
and knowledge of Treaties.

Water Walk
Following the program those who wish will gather at the local Toogood Pond for a guided “Sacred Water Walk”. Lead by Becky BigCanoe of the Chippewas of Georgina Island 1st Nations.
