Background

KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives seeks a skilled resource development person to help increase revenue for the organisation.

If you are a creative, skilled fundraiser, care about social justice and appreciate a dynamic staff and program, you will enjoy this contract. Working closely with the executive director, staff and volunteers, you will help KAIROS develop and implement a strategy to raise new funds. This will complement ongoing revenue generation.

KAIROS works for social justice on behalf of eleven member churches and church-related organizations. Our program is focused on ecological sustainability and human rights. KAIROS’ member churches and organizations, government, foundations, unions and individuals contribute to our annual operating budget.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a strategy to achieve major donations from donors and prospective donors. including individuals, foundations and religious communities
  • Cultivate foundation, individual and other major gift prospects
  • Report on progress and achievements and propose revision, if needed, to annual fundraising plan
  • Develop and implement a bequest program for current KAIROS donors
  • Create donor-related communication materials required for solicitation and gift recognition.

Requirements

  • Five years experience raising substantial revenue on an annual basis
  • Experience developing and monitoring, and evaluating fundraising plans
  • Experience in planned giving, major gifts and foundation grants
  • Proven excellence in written and oral presentations
  • Creativity, tact and good judgment in dealing with people
  • Excellent organizational, budgeting and planning skills
  • Comfortable working in an ecumenical Christian context
  • Excellent use of fundraising software. PowerPoint an asset
  • Understanding of social justice/international development milieu a strong asset.
