Colombia: Action for justice and peace
KAIROS works with partners in the region and across Canada on actions aimed at:
• Supporting and accompanying partners in the country with urgent actions, tours, opportunities to speak with Canadian decision-makers.
• Raising Canadian awareness of the violence in Colombia and some of the causes of it, focusing on communities that are especially affected, including women and Indigenous peoples; and raising awareness of the many groups in Colombia speaking out against violence and poverty.
• Raising awareness of Canada's roles, both negative and positive, in this violence. This includes Canada's continued pursuit of a free trade deal with the government of Colombia, advocacy with the Canadian embassy in Bogota, and a focus on Canadian corporate activities that might contribute to violence and economic inequality.
