KAIROS Sunday
Looking for KAIROS Sunday 2009? Because we lost a lot of good work to bad weather last February, this year we're holding KAIROS Sunday on MARCH 29. That's the day after Earth Hour 2009, an event which all Canadian churches are encouraged to attend. We hope you'll not only turn out the lights for an hour but also host an ecumenical workshop service, neighbourhood event, or any other creative idea that strikes you. And the next morning why not make climate change, sustainability, and a belief in positive energy alternatives central to your KAIROS worship service?
Over on the Earth Hour 2009 page you'll find an order of service. On our worship and reflections page you'll find lots more suggestions for liturgies and music. You can hold your KAIROS Sunday any time you like, of course-- March 29 is just one suggestion.
As always, please let us know about your plans for events and worship services. Just email Julie Graham, the Network Coordinator: jgraham[at]kairoscanada[dot]org

At KAIROS we think justice and peace are central to Christianity. We are excited to offer you resources for our annual KAIROS Sunday worship service, designed to highlight social justice work in your congregation. Whatever your work for social and global justice, here’s your chance to highlight it in your faith community and make the link between faith and justice.
We suggest the Sunday before Lent begins for your KAIROS Sunday worship and action. It is designated as Transfiguration Sunday in the Revised Common Lectionary and we have recognized this liturgical theme as an option in some of our resources. Of course, you are welcome to plan KAIROS Sunday on any Sunday or other time of worship that suits your calendar.
Some groups designate a regular worship service as a KAIROS Sunday, while others set up a special service, sometimes shared with other churches and groups. We’ve prepared a number of resources to help your work. These can be downloaded free of charge from this page (you’ll need Acrobat Reader for some of these resources). For further worship ideas and KAIROS Sunday supplementary materials, see our worship page.
Be sure to order well in advance any print or video resources you might need
And please take a moment to fill in the evaluation form and send it in. Your ideas will help us improve future KAIROS Sundays.
