What does KAIROS need to hear from Young Adults??

The response from the forty or so Canadian young adults gathered on June 17 2009 at the U of Waterloo

KAIROS wants to strengthen its relationships and work with 18-30 year olds, so we hosted a young adult day prior to our Gathering. Here's their summary advice; for ongoing discussion, get thee to Facebook and look up Kairos Young Adult Connection.

Dear KAIROS:

How has KAIROS empowered young leadership?

Has KAIROS tried mentorship?

What opportunities does KAIROS offer for direct action beyond advocacy?  How do I connect with these opportunities? To be clear, this means get-your-hands-dirty, service opportunities.

How do I connect with local/regional groups?

This opportunity needs to be on-line.

Reflect on scripture as a community, because it establishes common ground, broadens understanding, and declares the rationale/grounding for social/ecological justice.

Let us know – [meaning we are interested; invite us].

It is intimidating to when a group has established norms.

Welcome us and do not assume we are not already engaged.

We want to integrate: into activities and into gathering.

Young people dialoguing: formal and informal.

KAIROS  should partner with local groups: chaplaincy, Student Christian Movement, etc.

The worlds of our activism and our faith intersect rarely.

It is valuable space and time when they do intersect.

More space and time like this young adult event.

Use us.

Empowering leadership (is important).

(We are) SMART.

Sincerely, Enthusiastically:
