Resources and links on migrants and refugees

Sign up for On the Move: A Refugee and Migration E-bulletin. On the Move offers updates on KAIROS advocacy work related to refugees and migrants, information on new educational resources, and opportunities to take action. (See also the KAIROS Briefing Paper on refugee rights Canadian Security: Security for us all ). On the Move comes out approximately once a month. To sign up, send your name and email address to jdevries and tell us what issues you’d like to hear about.

New video! Borderless: A docu-poem about undocumented workers in Canada (DVD/ VHS, 25 minutes). What are the struggles and dreams of undocumented workers in Canada? Geraldo, a Costa Rican construction worker, and Angela, a second-generation Caribbean domestic worker, tell of their struggles against labour exploitation. Against the odds, they work to build a future for families painfully separated by restrictive immigration laws. Viewers meet an often-invisible workforce and reflect on the hidden costs of sustaining our first world economy. For more information contact Tanya Chute Molina.

God’s people: A People on the Move is a ten-part fact sheet series on globalization and migration. It addresses topics such as Refugee Rights, Migrant Rights; Canada and Human Displacement; Seasonal Agricultural Workers; Live-in Caregivers; and Living without Status. Each fact sheet includes an easy to ready introduction to an issue, a bible study guide, and action ideas. The kit also includes a backgrounder for facilitators and an ecumenical worship outline.
