KAIROS Groups Across Canada Hold Earth Hour Events

For Immediate Release Wednesday, March 26, 2008

Attention: Environment, Religion, City and Entertainment Editors and Reporters

(Toronto) Candle light and flash lights will figure prominently at many church-related events across Canada on March 29th as local KAIROS groups from coast to coast join millions of people worldwide to raise awareness about climate change.

A variety of events will be held in British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick and Ontario. In several instances, the groups were instrumental in getting their local municipality to sign on to Earth Hour.

KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives is a church-based nongovernmental organization that works on a wide range of social justice issues in Canada, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, including ecological justice.

Earth Hour is a global lights out event created by the World Wildlife Fund.

For a complete list of KAIROS events, please see the KAIROS websites at www.kairoscanada.org or contact Sheilagh McGlynn, Program Associate, at (416) 463 5312, ext. 246.
