(Toronto) KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives joins other civil society organizations from around the world participating in events related to the World Water Forum being held in Mexico from March 16-22, 2006. KAIROS, a Canadian nongovernmental organization, unites churches and related agencies representing eight denominations dedicated to working on a range of social justice issues in Canada, Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Joy Kennedy, Program Coordinator for Ecological Justice, will represent KAIROS at the WWF from March 16-20. KAIROS is collaborating with the Council of Canadians, CUPE, and Development and Peace who are also sending delegations to the WWF. All are calling on governments to ensure access to safe drinking water is not privatized and remains under public or community control both in Canada and around the world. The World Water Forum is one of the places where governments and
water companies come together to address issues of access to water.
