Film Premier
May 2, 2006
For Immediate Release
(Toronto) – KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives
is pleased to announce the premier this Saturday of Borderless,
a film that gives voice to the dreams and struggles of undocumented
workers in Canada.
Directed by Gemini-nominated filmmaker Min Sook Lee, written by
Governor General's Literary Award winner Dionne Brand, narrated
by d’bi young and produced by KAIROS, Borderless is a 25 minute
documentary poem centred around feature interviews with two undocumented
workers.
KAIROS unites churches and related agencies representing eight
denominations dedicated to working together on a range of social
justice issues. The churches have a long history of advocacy for
the rights of refugees and migrants forced from their homes by political
and economic injustices.
Borderless will premier on Saturday, May 6 at 3PM at the Rogers
Communication Centre, 80 Gould Street, Room 204 on the Ryerson University
campus as part of the Mayworks festival.
The screening will be followed by a panel discussion with union
organizers and activists involved in advocating for immigration
reform and alternatives to deportation. Filmmaker Min Sook Lee will
be present.
