Today, international conflict and fear of terrorism are eroding many hard-won human rights. As more and more people face violence or imprisonment at the hands of their own governments, support for international human rights in all forms is ever more critical.

KAIROS believes that human beings are created in the image of God, and as such deserve the utmost dignity and respect. Our commitment to human rights is an expression of this. Whether human rights are civil, political, economic, social or cultural, we contend that they must be protected by international law.

KAIROS’ International Human Rights program supports peace building, confronts impunity, and monitors the impact of corporations, particularly where resource extraction poses a real threat to human rights. Our work is rooted in partnerships with peoples’ organizations in such countries as Colombia, Sudan and the Philippines.
